There are many people who correct me on my actions. And sometimes, they get really personal. Right to the frequency I wash my hair.

It goes something like this:
Huh??! You aren't supposed to wash your hair daily! Its SOOO bad for your hair, y'know?

As you girls know, I value opinions. And I try my best to heed them. So I stopped washing my head with shampoo daily, and switched to fortnightly.
I dip my fingertips onto my scalp and smell them. Ugh. I can't even control my expressions. My facial features are all scrunched up like that of a grumpy old being. And my scalp gets itchy and feels heavy. :( Sebum is very sticky, and you can imagine all the pollutants sticking to it. And the prolonged clogging of the hair glands may lead to hair loss.

So I resumed washing my hair daily; washing only my oily scalp. And that has been the case for the past year or so. But since my ends aren't being washed, I try to keep them clean as much as possible. And that means that I keep my hair up in their ponytail all day, everyday. Some people use 2 different shampoos for different lengths of their hair, but y'all know I won't subject myself to that. >_>

Now, our best friend - ESSENTIAL has launched 2 new products for combination hair. If they aren't your best friend yet, they'll soon find their place in your life after you've tried them.

  • Light Finish Volumizing (yellow) – for flat and limp hair
  • Deep Cleansing Care (blue) – for oily scalp and dry ends

Optimum combination of Smart Cuticle Care and Sebum Cleansing Technology formulated for Combination hair with oily scalp and dry ends. This leaves oily hair refreshed at the roots yet moisturized at the ends.

Cool! Why hasn't any other haircare company realize that our hair type is not uniform?? It is mainly the scalp that produces oil and the rest of the hair is dead. The further the length from the scalp, the drier your hair will be.

In the foreseeable future, I can continue to experience the bets of both worlds with just one product. YAY! More good news, it has also has Microfine All Smooth EssenceThis delivers nutrients to repair damaged hair surface from root to tip;  smoothen your locks for healthy and manageable hair. I've never been happier with my hair!

Essential's have 4 variants, out of which the Light Finish Volumizing and the Deep Cleansing Care caters to people with 'Combination Hair'.

I've been using the Essential's Deep Cleansing Care for my hair exclusively for a few days and cannot stop touching my hair! And need I mention the candy colours?
This has the lightest formula in their range of products and errm, I love it very much. It cleanses my oily scalp more thoroughly and leaves them refreshed and breathable! I can now sleep earlier too as my hair takes a shorter time to dry. My dry ends are also smoother and less damaged.

Like most shampoos, Essential Deep Cleansing Care line is highly scented. It is a nice fruity smell but as I said, the smell lingers on for days! Like, it might overwhelm your perfume.

And I find that I can wash my hair every fortnightly with this as my scalp remains refreshed and oil-free. (Read: Save more shampoo and money) I can prevent frequent washing that might over-stimulate my scalp to produce more oil.

From mid-May onwards, there is also a free Massage Shampoo Brush (in hot pink or mint green) with purchase of the 750 ml Shampoo and conditioner.
The massage shampoo brush is commonly used by Japanese women to wash their scalp more effectively, off dirt and sebum. As far as massaging goes, it also improves blood circulation and promotes relaxation.

Idk if it is considered as 'massaging' when I rub my fingertips onto my oily scalp before smelling it. HEHEH

It has flexible silicon bristles, shaped thickly and flat with different lengths to massage the scalp without scratching and damaging it. The body is made with sturdy plastic with an ergonomic grip. Yea, who would want to keep picking it up from the shower where everything is soapy is slippery, right? HEH

My mom has also been using it and is loving it thus far.

I don't have the habit of painting my nails, but I can see that this can save you some money by letting that manicure job last longer.

This is used after application of the shampoo as usual. Hold the brush as shown in the image and move from side to side. Rubbing it in circular movements might tangle your hair! And voila, you just rinse the shampoo off and continue with the conditioner.
