[Treatment] Your Hair but Better - Review: TK TrichoKare Advanced Scalp Detox & Care Treatment

Last week, I headed down to their outlet Velocity @ Novena Square for an appointment. The store was shorthanded on my day of visit, so it took a while (~30 min) before I was seated for the hair and scalp analysis. The staff were sorry about it and their service after was really professional which definitely made up for it. I’ve grown to be extremely fussy when it comes to services because that is what they are primarily providing and Trichokare did it quite well.

The treatment started off with a hair and scalp analysis by my Trichologist/ Consultant (aka Hair Doctor) Doreen, where I learned that I have issues like clogged follicles, hair thinning at my hair parting and slight dandruff. These issues may be more common than we think and are attributed to our humid weather and pollution in Singapore. These issues are hard to notice because I have a lot of hair. On my hair thinning issue, Doreen’s pro tip is to change up my hair parting every month. In addition, I also learned that problems concerning our scalp and hair exacerbate with age. Considering that I am still relatively young, my problems could be considered mild but I should not be paying any less attention to it (and even more so in the future). Doreen customised a treatment based on my hair and scalp conditions and I was directed to the treatment room!

I met my cutest Therapist and Stylist Fanny who showed me to a basket of snacks and served me a warm cup of my favourite Rose Tea. I was also seated comfortably with a towel tucked into my robe and covered with a big warm blanket.

Fanny then proceeded with the TriOxy Treatment, a 3-step process, starting of with OxyPeel. This serves to remove dead skin from congested pores, by making the scalp softer to ease removal. Thereafter, she ran oxygen through my scalp. Like all other skin on our body, the scalp also needs to breathe. It needs oxygen, moisture and nutrients (which Fanny helps to fulfill later).

After waiting for few minutes for the peel to take its effect, the next step is to wash my hair in a Revitalising Hair Bath. Fanny shampooed my hair twice to help my scalp restore its sebum balance, so as to keep it refreshed and stress-free.

Okay, I was back in my seat again! Next, Fanny placed a Hot Pad (which smelled like Lemongrass) on my shoulders and gave me a massage to reduce stress and help me relax. Trichokare emphasized again and again on the effect of stress on hair loss.

Then, it was time for the remaining 2 steps of the TriOxy Treatment: OxyNutrient and OxyJet. If you love minty sensation on your skin, you will definitely enjoy these steps.

Here was Fanny spritzing my hair with a spray containing Trichokare’s premium European herbs. This is to provide nutrients and boost hydration to the scalp. For those who hate the smell of Chinese herbs, fret not! The herbs used smell nothing like that and smelled very light (something similar to the smell of skincare products).

I was also given an ampoule that was coupled with the OxyJet treatment. The OxyJet helps to accelerate scalp’s cell metabolism and improve blood circulation.

Now for the final step, the Photodynamic Therapy which uses laser light technology supports hair regeneration and helps accelerate healing. The treatment had a pretty comic end to it because the laser light machine literally made a “Ding!” sound when 10 minutes was up, like a microwave. I got up, touched my hair and *holy moly* and it was the softest my tufts have ever felt!

I was brought back into the consultation room for an after-scan of my scalp and I could see the differences between the before (top) and after (bottom) photos. My scalp was visibly cleaner, and the pores were unclogged! The outlet supervisor Carrie ran through my profile again and said that she wishes to see a smaller number than 15 in the future with regards to the amount of hair that fall in the shower. (A common number among my fellow Singaporeans but not a good number!)

And voila, I left the store with a minty fresh scalp! The whole process took about 2.5 hours.
