[Cosmetic Lens] Looking Good, Looking like Pre-historic Beings - Review:GEO Grang Grang Choco HC-246

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. The lenses are purchased with my own money.
While having larger eyes may help, having larger irises doesn't especially aid in vision.
Larger irises will probably only help in evading eye contact. This is demonstrated in the Pokémon, section JigglyPuff, hypnosis.
Here's my first ever review of coloured contact lenses! I've only tried on coloured lenses once in my entire life so don't expect much comparison. Upon an urgent call which I've only a mere hour's time, I jumped to dress up or make myself look more like a decent being. I scrambled to find my old pair of clear prescription lenses (last worn on 18May13 for NTU/NUS open house). I haven't worn contact lenses in quite a while, I didn't even bring them along to Taiwan. Alas, the attempt was unfruitful. In desperation, I popped open the bottles of my sister's Geo Grang Grang HC-246 and plunged them into my eyes without even immersing them in solution.
My sister chose this over NEO Dali brown, I loved how natural and subtle Dali looked and thought that she might have looked cuter in them.
They have 2 colours for this series - Choco and Brown, both on the natural side. Choco being darker. And they also have the "big(ger)" ones, but 14.2 mm is already quite a big burden on my small eyes. >.< let alone 15.0 mm o.0
(official photo from GEO)
Specifcations:
Diameter: 14.2mm
Water Content: 38%
Base Curve: 8.6mm
Life Span: 1 year disposable

My eye whites being suffocated |
See what I mean? They're 14.2mm and they look pretty huge without makeup. But on another note, at least they're brown, funkier colours will make you look more like an alien without makeup.
(For your info, I do not usually zoom in to my eyes for picture snapping HAHAA)
Being Asian, my eyes were already dark, these lenses blended into my natural iris effortlessly.
Ratings!
Enlargement: 6/10
Diameter: 14.2mm
Against natural light |
(This picture is taken with my eyebrows completely relaxed so that they are so close to my eyes. I'm trying not to open my eyes as much as I'll look weird if I do for the entire span of wearing the lenses. LOL so this is what I'll look like "normally")
The picture speaks for itself. They have a darker rim around so it makes the eye look even larger. But as compared to the previous one I've tried, I do not have to raise my eyebrows for the entire iris to be exposed.
Design: 10/10
I like how the brown shards crisscrosses so that the lens colour is more blended into the eye colour. Intensity of the iris increases gradually from the pupil so they look pretty natural. I've always preferred other girls wearing brown lenses. They have a smoother finish and reflect more light (if you get what I mean) so it's glossy finish makes the eye more sparkly. HAHAAA These were lighter than my natural eye colour, so if you're seeking a subtle colour change, these might be for you.
Comfort: NA
They were thin and felt alright. In terms that I can feel their existence but they weren't a bother. However, as I've mentioned above, I did not immerse them in solution prior to usage plus the haze in Singapore today ( PSI reading of 111!! ). After wading through the thick haze with my sensitive lungs (and eyes), my eyes did dry out a little in a short 2 hour duration of wear. I think it is unfair to credit the appearance of the blood capillaries to the lenses. I might review on this section again if I ever wear them again.

Comfort: 7/10
These lenses have high water content and did not dry out my eyes on my second wear (of 4 hours). They feel pretty much like normal monthly lenses, as they were thinner. In fact, they were even thinner than my monthlies. I know not everyone is a fan in this aspect as the thin lens tend to be difficult to 'insert', but these aren't ridiculously thin. Thin enough to be comfy. :) But then again, since these restricts oxygen to your eyes, I urge you against wearing them for more than 6 hours.

But since I'm out ( though I was just right outside my door LOL) ! I tried snapping a self portrait of passport photo for NTU submission HAHA!
After whitening backdrop and using a few of the online photo editors.
TADAAH! And I really did submit the photo to the NTU portal. I guess I'll only drag my feet to a photo studio if I face rejection! hahaa
Whatever, I'm happy ~~!
*Update 1/8/13
I wore them out again! like finally, they were in fact pretty comfy. There were no more red veins appearing on my eyeballs. I just can't express how much I LOVE these lenses. I don't even need any eye makeup and I look instantly enhanced with them.
