SHISEIDO Tsubaki Hair Oil has been a lifesaver.

I have had dry and damaged hair ever since the age of 13 due to my curious experimentation with newly launched shampoos and prolonged exposure to the sun. My hair is naturally very coarse, very thick and I have a lot of it.

I never was a big fan of hair oils because of the sticky and greasy texture they usually leave. But Tsubaki Hair Oil does not clump your hair but instead leaves it silky soft and make you smell (read: insanely) pleasant and inviting! :) (skip your perfumes!)

Before the magic

Tsubaki Hair Oil is a deeply penetrative hair oil:
  • Formulated with a high concentration of specially selected camelia oil to
    • protect your hair from damage by UV rays and heat from hair dryers and other styling equipment,
    • moisturise, and
    • repair your hair, preventing cuticle damage, split ends and hair breakage
  • Which is instantly absorbed by your hair upon application giving a silky smooth finish
  • Which has a luxurious and feminine scent of floral and green fruitty notes
The oil is thin for easy even application

The Tsubaki Hair oil is produced in the Goto Islands in Nagasaki, the perfect location for producing camelia oil because of its warm climate and fertile soils.

Here's something more about Tsubaki Hair Oil! It is:
  • Obtained by traditional harvesting methods. Only fully ripe fruits are carefully handpicked before they fall to the ground
  • Extracted using a tedious method of pressing finely selected seeds
  • Carefully selected for freshness. Only pure camelia oil obtained from the first pressing of camelia seeds harvested in the current season is used

HOW TO APPLY

Just scrunch the ends and work your way up!
How to apply evenly?

To prevent irregular application, spread half the appropriate amount (about 20-cent coin size for mid-length hair) onto the palms and work through the hair. Then, spread the second half onto the palms and focus on areas that require extra application!

How to prevent flat hair? (Particularly recommendable to those who have soft and fine hair)
Refrain from applying large amount inappropriately and unevenly. Start application from the damaged tips and gradually work upwards to the roots to avoid flat hair.

How to reduce volume or prevent dry hair? (Particularly recommendable to those who have thick and voluminous hair)
Apply an appropriate amount to wet hair and dry it with a hair dryer. Then, spread a small amount onto the palms and apply on bottom half of the hair to reduce the volume.

How long exactly have I been missing out?

I've been using the Tsubaki Hair Oil for just 4 days (the photos reflect day 1) and my hair is a lot more manageable and easy to style. I also realized that my hair doesn't break off so easily and I drop less hair a day. My hair routine has become something I look forward to every morning. Every day after application I feel like I went for a hair treatment at a professional hair salon. It takes less than 2 minutes and it keeps you looking fresh for the whole day. (side note: I have a good hair day today! ;)) I'm so glad SHISEIDO found me.
