Hey friends! How have all of you been? Do you also have pitted scarring? Hiding pitted acne scars can be so frustrating, why does it seems like the more makeup you apply, the more they show. While you work on treating the depressed acne scars, such as icepick, boxcar, rolling, or other pitted scars, there is a way to cover them up.

I know how much pitted scarring suck.

There are some days we feel a little more insecure. Society has once and again emphasized appearance as a valuable asset - its not your mind, nor your social skills, nor your intelligence. Stop pointing out all the flaws when you scrutinize your face up close in the mirror. Start liking who you see, and change the way you look at yourself. It is important not to stay around people who point out your flaws and constantly tries to put you down.

The condition of your skin is important, I used to think that I’d be willing to trade my depressed scars for flaky, red skin. Yes, I hated them that badly. When you have good skin, everything looks better. Do the morning ritual - moisturizers plump up the scars, and sunscreen! Never forget sunscreen. Piak them all over yer face. (And all other exposed skin.)

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel is a good sunscreen for people with oily skin, pimple-prone, scars. Like many products in their line, they smell citrus-y and refreshing. And the best thing of it all is that it is completely matte!

To conceal pitted acne scars, we’d first need to raise the scar as much as possible to the same level as the rest of the skin. Silicon-based primers can fill in some of the indents and create a smoother base for you to apply your other makeup. By plastering the tiny indents, it will bring it to the same level as the surrounding skin. On top of that, it also helps makeup to last longer.
I either use my fingers or a flat brush to smooth it on. If you have deeper scars, apply another layer, leaving it a minute in between layers for it to dry. Repeat till satisfied.

After Collection Cosmetics Primed and Ready Makeup Primer

Primers can make a world of difference! Foundations and concealers used to sink into the depressed areas which made them a lot of apparent. Usually primers with a thicker consistency can plaster better. Different people have different depths of scarring; like all other skincare and makeup products, there is no one size fits all.

ThCollection Cosmetics Primed and Ready Makeup Primer creates a matte finish on the first few applications, and smooths out most pores and bad textures. However, it isn’t too build-able and might get rubbed off. When you’re assured that is completely dried, proceed to for other makeup.

Apply MATTE liquid foundation.
Apply the foundation thinly, layer by layer. Similar to layering of the primer, pat them onto the pitted areas and wait for the first layer to dry completely before the next. I find that stippling using a textured sponge or fingers allows the product to blend better into the skin. Stippling packs more product into the depressed areas and gives an airbrushed finish. Blend gently to blur the boundary of the foundation with the rest of the skin.

Estee Lauder Double Wear
Stay-In-Place Makeup SPF10
2W1 SAND 36
Its now time to bring out the big guns. I've got a sample sized  Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup SPF10 2W1 SAND 36, to try it out before any purchases. and its coverage is just too good. This tone is slightly brighter than my current, which can help to ease the appearance of the shadows of the pitted scars.
The matte finish of the foundation is important, the last thing we would want is to draw attention to the acne scars. Matte liquid foundations give a good finish, and doesn’t look too chalky on the skin.

And set everything off with light powder. We’re almost done. Gently sweep powder over, but be careful not to use too much force such that it rubs our hard work away.

And there you have it!

Summary

  1. Stay matte!
  2. Use a silicon-based primer
  3. Try buildable foundations
  4. Blend well

Makeup is for people to feel better about themselves, wanting to look prettier isn’t wrong. I cringe when I look at the mirror with bad lighting that seem to accentuate the scars, how bad they look in bathrooms, in harsh sunlight. Using the right makeup is important, for example we would avoid shimmery foundations, blushes and bronzers. Go wild with experimentation and understanding of your own skin condition to optimize the routine.

Not All hope is Lost

Being flawless is not impossible. You can get the flawless look with better skincare and makeup. I feel like the overall skin texture has greatly improved with AHAs and exfoliation, better moisturizing products such as hyaluronic acid can also help to plump up the skin, such that the scar is less sunk in.

There are many ways to improve the depth of the scarring intrinsically. With advances in technology, treatment of acne scarring is now safer, more effective and long lasting. Go for subcision, laser resurfacing, fractional laser, radio frequency RF, or fractional RF. If you can improve it, why don’t you? They are increasing more affordable, more choices of treatments. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how you look to others, the invaluable thing is how you feel about yourself and be comfortable in your own skin.
