[Skincare] Spending Moolah - November Empties & Buys

You know how everything suddenly gets so interesting during the exam period? But I refrained on my intimacy with the internet, no, not due to birth control budget cuts HAHA but I don't want to lose the drive when it comes to me. And so, a torturous month ticked by. I'm finally back from my hiatus to leak some Christmas-y spirit! *sprinkles glittery pixie dust!* & Here goes my November empties and buys!
My November Empties
1. Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Creamy Wash (Retails at $6.90 in Singapore)
I got this from Watsons Taiwan. I've tried a sample of this before purchasing, its citrusy-refreshing, especially when it has a bit of greenish tint to its thick, creamy consistency. This foams up well and was a good cleanser; it did its job and did not drain all the moisture from my skin. I used this daily at night and its contents had diminished in the fastest record down my bathroom history! That being said, a little goes a long way since it foams up so well.
It does not completely eliminate my pimples, I still have my acne; in fact, none of the products I've ever tried but promised to didn't. For instance, I don't blame my long-time facial foam for my sudden breakouts.
Repurchase: YES!
2. Zamian Gold Cacao Mask Pack
This reeks of sinister dark chocolate, too sinful to be true. This is a very luxurious mask, the combination of a woman's best friend - gold and chocolate. This is a creamy mask, very dark with some sightings of gold flakes. Similar to a clay mask, it has a little bit of tingling sensation when first applied and dries, well, like a clay mask. However, be warned that the dark chocolate brown is here to stay, it's colour on my wash sponge was unsettling. :S
It tightens pores and reduces the redness of my volcanos after use, I slab this on as a spot treatment for nasty pustules. I have to admit that I got pretty addicted to it when I first got it, and was using it about 2-3 times a week; but I got lazy and forgot about it for months. It resurfaced to me a few weeks back and I finished it for good!
Repurchase: Wouldn't hurt to, but I would like the money for new product discoveries.
3. Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil (Retails at $13.90)
Contrary to the Body Shop Tea Tree Oil which has only about 10% of tea tree oil (ironic, I know), this is 100% tea tree oil (maybe with some preservatives and that's it!) I wished I had knew the existence of tea tree oils sooner, so that I'm not scar-ridden till this date. This is a natural antiseptic, it reduces inflammation and shrinks the pimples! This dries, and does not leave any congested oil-clogged feeling to your skin.
Did I mention that it is multi-purpose as well? I use it for bad bug bites, mix them with my toners and masks and as a insect repellent. Its kind of ridiculous how I grew to enjoy this scent. This product was wiped out in its mere 2 months stint on my dressing table.
My gripe with this would be the temporary redness it causes on the applied area; and when I put on makeup to conceal the redness, the makeup kind of wear off due to the oil.
Its main purpose on my dressing table is mainly for spot treatments, it does not help much on black/white heads. It dries my skin a little when I increase the frequency of application, I would say once a day will suffice.
Repurchase: Yes! It has become an integral part of my dressing table.

4. Optrex Eye Drops
I throw most eye drops out in three months, but for once in my lifetime I've finished a eye drop within three months! Never. happened. The distilled witch hazel feels really refreshing on my eyeballs and they're pretty multi-purpose!
Apart from their main function which is to lubricate your eyes, I use them to wash makeup debris out of my eyes and even as a pimple redness reducer. It reduces redness as it constricts the blood vessels like how it does to your eyeballs (to reduce the appearance of red capillaries) plus it also has sanitizes the area. Not an effective spot treatment, but good for last minute rescues.
Repurchase: This is kinda like a staple product so its really like "duh".
My November Buys
I don't really have a steady inflow of new products, keeping in mind that my net income is negative now (due to school fees) Also, I don't have a lot of time for shopping, yes you know it, "due to school". I'm blaming it all on school while I still can; Imagine me being ninety! Ah, this semester ended already?! No, that wasn't a complaint Heheee!
1. Borghese Fango Active Mud (SGD$17)
I got this product off a cyber sale on Strawberry.net, $17 for 500g. This mud mask is great for pore tightening and the reduction of black and whiteheads. It stung so bad that I was so taken aback on my first attempt using it. My face had cleared quite a fair bit since its purchase primarily because the first stage of acne is under control. Real strong, my facial features were a tad distorted when it dries LOL.
I'll do a review on it soon as photos were already waiting in my backlog Hahaa.
2. Leaders Insolution AC-Stop Foam Cleansing Face Wash (Retails at $29.90 in Singapore)
Its hard to find a fragrance-free Korean skincare product, unlike choking cheap perfumes, this smells really smoothing; close to an aromatherapy. My skin usually breaks out with AHA, which is also termed as the 'purging' phase, but it didn't happen with this product. It also foams up easily, but it is less of a thick consistency, so I use a tad more than the Mentholatum Acnes Creamy Wash.

3. Leaders Insolution Active AC Toner (Retails at $29.90 in Singapore)
This is a hypoallergenic toner, it is near colourless and watery. Till date, results are pretty promising, it controls my sebum pretty well as my skin started to clear up. I like how this dispenses through a pump, never seen a pump for toners. My only gripe with this is that, my heart skips a beat whenever I hold this glass bottle up; I was so afraid that it might topple anytime. Maybe I might lick the floor clean then HAHA!

Again, thanks to the cyber market, the products from the AC Stop Line can now be purchased with $12. I purchased mine off a local seller from Qoo10.
4. Dermal Korea Collagen Essence Mask
This is my second mass purchase of these masks, I've tried 4 flavours - strawberry, white, charcoal and rose. My favourite has to be the charcoal and white ones, most of them feel good on, but delivers little results. I've bought new flavours again this time - acercola, cherry blossom, aloe and snail. Haven't tried any yet though.
These masks were surprisingly an exact fit to my face. I show you guys if I review on this. The eye flap is saved, but I still fold it down as there's a reason why our eyes use separate products from the face. Some ingredients for eg paraben and fragrance may aggravate the eye area.
*Regarding the debate whether collagen can be absorbed by the skin: I would say no. Even if it is hydrolyzed collagen (collagen peptides), these molecules won't integrate into the fibrous collagen structures in your skin. However, collagen can hold moisture and be a decent moisturizer. So, I hope that helps.

5. Michael Todd True Organics Blue Green Algae Toner
Bought for $15 excluding delivery charge. I have not tried them yet, not planning to anytime soon because I have a few toners sitting on my dressing table for now.
6. Michael Todd True Organics Jojoba Charcoal Facial Polish (Scrub)
Bought for $25 excluding delivery charge. Not planning to try them soon either for similar reasons stated above.
I saw many youtubers and bloggers having rave reviews about Michael Todds True Organics (unsure if most of the positive ones are sponsored). Michael Todd retails at a high end price but they can go pretty cheap during their sales. Oh, and also if you're searching for reviews for their products, don't try your luck at their official site; I heard that they only publish 5-star reviews :S
But I won't judge them for now, I'll try these products soon and maybe do a review on them :) btw, the delivery charges came up to $8 for both products.
