[Photography] Spin Around Sentosa- Review: Fujifilm Finepix S4800
For the longest time, a camera upgrade has been on my wishlist. The failure to comply was primarily due to the financial resources, but my opportunity came when my net income has been more on the positive scale during the term break. I'm more than eager to take this new camera for a spin while I spend some more "alone time" with myself to justify my slightly more 'exorbitant' purchase. The Fujifilm Finepix S4800 is a bridge camera, with 30X superzoom, 16 megapixels and image stabilization. One feature that I like more is its speed- the startup, auto focus and shutter speed. I've missed too many moments during my time with my old Samsung PL150, that translates into smiley faces, running children and more tiny little gestures left uncaptured. My main reason of this buy is for the start up speed of the S4800, which is under 2s, a good deal especially I have the habit of switching my camera off after a few shots.

A few features of this model to be highlighted:
- Motion Panorama
- Face Detection
- Burst and Continuous Modes
- 3D feature
- Macro/ Super Macro
- Wide Angle
- 720P Videos
- Basic Editing Features
The camera can be strenuous on the shoulder when it is carried around for long hours, but it is relatively lightweight, at around 700g. By the way, the S4800 is also AA-battery-powered, so you might want to invest in some rechargeable AA batteries for it.
In the box:
- Camera
- Manual + CD ( MyFinePix Photo editing software)
- 4 AA Alkaline Batteries
- Lens Cap
- Camera Strap
- USB Cable

Here are some of my (raw) photos for the test shot I had in Sentosa!
- Sentosa Boardwalk
- RWS
- Beach Station, Sentosa
Getting There (FREE from HarbourFront MRT):
- Going to Sentosa is now free on weekends and Public Holidays through the Sentosa Boardwalk (a short journey from Vivocity Level 1)
- Transport within Sentosa is free (both the Sentosa Express and the shuttle buses, see Sentosa website for timings and more info)
- You should walk to Sentosa and take the free transport back to Vivocity.
I do have more photos to share, but I'm really just trying to be more selective HEHEH. I don't exactly have any real idea when to attempt the 365Project, because uhm, I didn't during the holidays, and I don't think carrying the camera everyday to school is a practical idea. Not that I must, but my cellphone is incapable of worthy shots. At least I had an exhilarating day experience, before school gets hectic again.
