[Brain Rants] Facing Mortality

Hey homies,

Several weeks ago, I saw this video:

Aww, just look at them! In just less than a minute, this cute little pair melts our hearts. But then, if we re-think about what she is crying over, we realize that we might have been through this as well.
We spent most of our childhood accepting this hard fact, that things and people around us won't stay the way they are. Growing up, in some point of our lives, we struggled hard with this concept- the dilemma of life. The idea of death and aging just make us sad. And the fact that we can't do anything about it just makes it soul-crushing, that is, until we've come to accept it.

Most of us had also spent time fantasizing on other ways that may seem, to glean a teeny bit of hope, that we can get around this excruciating process. You know, just like how humans are monstrous beings, our thoughts can get a little selfish.
(1) Time machines
(2) Immortality pills
(3) God-praying
(4) Black Magic
(5) Trading for lifespans with other people/animals
(6) Imagine about a second world that we'll lay foot in after death
(7) Reincarnation
(8) (the latest one from the korean drama) Aliens from outer space

❝ What if I told you 10 years from now your life would be exactly the same?
Doubt you’d be happy.
So, why are you afraid of change? ❞
—   ― Karen Salmansohn    —

Do you remember
Reading the OBITUARY?
When the newspaper is used to line the tables during meals. And that whole series of scrutinizing of faces, age and their family members whom we probably don't recall right after the meal.
Of course we stopped doing so when we got older, at least flip the newspaper over to prevent feeding dirtying their faces. (Dirtying stands a higher probability, you know, the mouth-to-face ratio thing).

And then we return to doing so when we get even older, (because I saw my grandparents doing so pretty often and I'm quite sure that I'll take after them) since we've gotten tired of other sections of the newspaper. Would the newspaper still exist when I get old? IDK, but the world's happenings are no longer my business and I would have earned enough to read the money section.

(1)  To have a better estimation of our lifespans
(2) To see if we can recognize anyone
(3) Just to prep ourselves generally

Maybe it is because we think about it too often in our younger days, such that we were more determined to achieve whatever since lifespan is limited. What do I want to be remembered as? What is my obituary to going say? How am I going to save the world? And maybe, when we figure all those out and fulfill our purpose in life, we will no longer be so afraid of dying.
